A couple of years ago I discovered Precious Metal Clay (PMC) when I was searching for methods of creating silver jewelry with my images on them. PMC is a material created and patented by Mitsubishi of Japan. Tiny particles of pure sulver or gold are suspended in an organic binder to create a material that can be worked like modeling clay. Pieces are fired in a kiln to burn off the binder and fuse the metal. The result is a solid, 100% pure silver or gold object.
My original designs are stamped onto the wet clay, allowed to dry, and then fired and finished to create the final piece. Because it can be a time consuming process, I have had some of my pieces (the German Shepherd pendents) cast in sterling silver.
